Maternity and pregnancy models
Maternity modeling and pregnancy modeling jobs
Maternity modeling jobs have a deadline no other modeling work has: your due date. Most of them are booked by maternity brands, baby brands and their photographers, not through a maternity model agency. Publish one reviewed profile with your weeks, due date, size and city, and the people casting pregnant models email you direct.
The short answer
Do you need a maternity model agency?
No. Pregnancy modeling work in the United States comes from maternity apparel brands, baby and nursery brands, prenatal health and insurance advertising, hospitals and birth centers, and family lifestyle and stock shoots. A handful of specialist maternity agencies exist, and mainstream boards rarely keep a maternity division, so most of these clients cast the model themselves. They need a real bump at a specific stage, in their city, on a specific date, and they need to find her fast.
MaxGirls is a reviewed model directory, not an agency. Your profile carries your photos, your categories, city, height, a day-rate range and your availability, and your headline carries your weeks and due date. A person reviews it before it goes public, then brands, photographers and production teams filter the directory and email you directly. We take no commission on anything you book.
Pregnant models needed, by who is asking
Which maternity modeling jobs pay
The stage column is what the brief usually asks for. Your own clinician decides what you can do on set, and a good client asks before it books.
| Type of booking | Who books it | Stage they usually want | How you are paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maternity apparel e-commerce and lookbook | Maternity clothing and nursing wear brands, retailers with a maternity line, content studios | A clear bump, often from about five months, sometimes several stages in one season | Day or half-day fee, plus usage if the images run in ads |
| Maternity fit model | Maternity brands' design and product teams | Any stage. One US brand asks for 0 to 10 months pregnant or up to 6 months postpartum | Hourly, in person or over a video call |
| Prenatal health and insurance advertising | Hospitals, birth centers, prenatal vitamin brands, health insurers and their agencies | Visibly pregnant, relaxed, in a clinical or home setting | Day fee plus a usage license, like any commercial booking |
| Baby gear and nursery | Stroller, car seat, crib and feeding brands, baby registries | Late pregnancy, then the same client again with the newborn | Day fee plus usage, a separate booking for the family shoot |
| Stock and lifestyle | Stock photographers, content studios, parenting publishers | Any visible stage, often with a partner or older child | Day fee and a signed model release. Read the release before you sign |
| Portfolio trade | Maternity photographers building a book | Usually the last trimester | Photos, no fee. Useful early, not income |
Backstage's maternity guide makes the same point about timing that every maternity model learns fast: you have about nine months, and catalogs plan their shoots ahead. That is why the pregnancy modeling jobs that pay go to the model the client can find this week with the right number of weeks, not the one who applies to an agency and waits to hear back.
A maternity model agency or a direct listing
The middle column describes how a specialist maternity board or a general agency usually handles pregnant models, not one named company. Terms vary, and your own contract is the only one that binds you.

How an agency and a direct listing differ for maternity modeling jobs
Where an agency genuinely wins
If you were a working commercial model or actress before the pregnancy, a specialist board such as Expecting Models in Woodland Hills, California exists for exactly you, and it has postpartum, nursing and model family divisions for afterward. Its founder started it after being passed over for work in her own second trimester. A board like that negotiates usage on national campaigns and chases late invoices. If that is your background, apply there as well. Nothing on MaxGirls stops you keeping a direct profile at the same time, and most apparel, fit and local healthcare work is booked direct anyway.
What the brief is looking for
Maternity models wanted and what to list
A maternity brief is written in weeks and sizes. A brand shooting its third-trimester range in six weeks is doing arithmetic on your due date before it looks at anything else. Put the numbers where it can see them.
| State this | Example | Why the client needs it |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks along, and the date you counted from | "24 weeks on 1 October" | Shoots are planned weeks out. A dated count lets a brand work out your stage on its shoot day |
| Due month | "Due January" | Tells a baby brand when a newborn and family follow-up is possible |
| Pre-pregnancy size and current size | "Size 6 before, maternity M now" | Samples come in set sizes. A fit team matches you to its size run. See fit model jobs |
| What you can do on set | "Half days, seated breaks, no travel after 34 weeks" | A client plans the schedule around you instead of discovering the limit on the day |
| What you will show | "Bare bump yes, swimwear no" | Saves both sides an email about a brief you would decline |
| Who else can be in the shot | "Partner and a 4 year old available" | Family lifestyle and baby gear clients book the family, not only the bump |
Shoot the bump in fitted clothes
Front, side and three-quarter, in daylight, in a fitted top or dress that shows the shape. Add one headshot and one full length. A booker is judging the size and carry of the bump, and loose clothing hides it.
Refresh the photos every few weeks
A photo from week 20 is a different model by week 30. Replace the bump shots every three to four weeks and update the weeks in the headline the same day, so a client booking a late-stage shoot meets the bump it booked.
Plan the postpartum lane now
Nursing wear, postpartum recovery products, baby gear and family brands book the same model again after the birth. Keep the profile, change the headline to postpartum and the baby's age, and your earlier clients can find you.
Put your health first, in writing
Long days standing, heat under lights and travel all matter more now. Agree breaks, seating, water and a hard stop time before the shoot day. A client who will not put that in the confirmation email is telling you something.
Where maternity modeling jobs come from
Four categories that book pregnant models
Maternity is not a separate category on MaxGirls. It is a stage, and it crosses commercial, fashion and creator work, so you list in every category that fits and let your headline say the weeks. These four carry almost all of it.
Local calls
Why maternity modeling near me is local
Pregnant models do not fly across the country for a half-day e-commerce shoot, and clients know it. A maternity brand in Los Angeles books a model in Los Angeles. A hospital system in Atlanta shooting its new birth center books a mother-to-be in Atlanta. A baby gear brand in Chicago books a family it can reach by car. That is why maternity modeling near me is a real search, and why the answers today are job boards and parenting groups.
A profile with your city and availability set answers all of those at once. Clients filter to their city, see who is free this month, read your weeks and due date in the headline, and email the ones that fit. If your pregnancy is also the reason you left a runway or fashion board, the plus size and curve and petite pages explain how the same direct route works for size and height briefs after the birth.
Quote the license, not just the day
A fit session is an hourly fee. A bump photo on a prenatal vitamin box, or in a hospital's billboard campaign, can run for years after the baby is walking. Set your base and see what the license does to it.
Day rate and usage estimator
Runs in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Your number for the hours, before any license. Nobody sets this for you and nothing on this site claims to know it.
Put these in the quote too
- The shoot date and the agreed hours
- What happens on overtime, per hour
- The license in one explicit paragraph
- Payment term in days, and an expiry on the quote
Quote this range
$900 to $1,035
A published range means the first email is about the shoot, not about whether you are affordable.
What these numbers are. The base is the figure you set. The license multipliers are this tool's own stated bands, printed so you can see the shape of a quote: media 1.0 to 3.0×, territory 1.0 to 2.0×, term 0.85 to 3.0×, exclusivity 1.0 to 1.75×. They are not a survey, an average or a market rate. MaxGirls publishes no rate table and never sees what you were paid. The reasoning behind each line.
Getting listed
Four steps, about twenty minutes
No application fee, no test shoot you pay for, no portfolio package. Expecting parents are a favorite target for paid "maternity portfolio" offers dressed up as castings. If anyone asks you to pay to be considered, read how to spot a modeling scam first.
- Shoot five current photos Bump front and side in a fitted outfit, one headshot, one full length, one relaxed lifestyle frame. Daylight, no filter. Phone photos are fine at this stage.
- Pick commercial, plus every category that fits Commercial is where most maternity, prenatal and baby briefs filter first. Add fashion for lookbooks and creator if you post pregnancy content. Each category is another filter that returns you.
- Put the weeks in the headline Weeks along with the date, due month, pre-pregnancy and current size, and what you can do on set. This is what a client reads before anything else, and it decides whether you get the email.
- Set a day rate and keep availability current Your rate range is visible before anyone writes, so the first email is about the booking. Availability is one click: available now, this month, or booked. Update it the week you stop taking work.
