What happens to your photos
Every uploaded file is re-encoded on the server, which strips EXIF and location metadata, and stored on a disk that is not reachable from the web. A photo you tick 18+ also gets a second, separately degraded file, and that degraded file is the only one a public page references until a viewer confirms their age for that photo. Trust and safety.
