Fit modeling
Fit model agency alternative
A fit model agency holds your measurements on its board, decides which brands hear about you, and keeps a share of every hour you stand in a fitting. This is the other route to fit model jobs. Publish one reviewed profile with your sample size, your city, your rate and the days you are free, and the technical design teams who need that exact body contact you directly.
The short answer
Do you need a fit model agency to get fit work?
No. A fit model is booked because their body matches a brand's sample size, and the person who books them is usually a technical designer or a production manager, not a casting director. An agency is one way that person finds you. It charges for the introduction, commonly as a percentage of every hourly fee, and New York has capped that percentage at 20 since June 2025. The alternative is to be findable yourself, with your measurements, city, rate and availability in one reviewed profile.
That is all Maxgirls is. A reviewed directory, not an agency. We do not represent you, we never quote on your behalf, and we take nothing from what a brand pays you. A person reads your profile before it goes public so the directory stays real, and after that the brand writes to you rather than to us.
Fit model agencies against a direct listing
The left column describes how fit boards generally work, not one named company. The commission cap and the signing-fee ban are New York law, from the state Department of Labor's Fashion Workers Act guidance. Other states set their own rules.

How a fit model agency and a direct listing differ
Where an agency genuinely wins
The large houses with standing fit accounts book through agencies, and some will not take a direct booking at all. An established fit board already holds those accounts, knows which technical designer wants which size in which week, and chases the invoice when a brand pays late. If your measurements match a size those houses fit on, that access is worth the commission and you should talk to a board in your city. The smaller brands, private label teams and in-house production departments that do not keep an agency account are the part of the market a direct listing reaches.
Fit model positions
Four kinds of fit work, each on its own sample size
A brand fits each line on one body. Knowing which line you match is most of the job search.
Missy and contemporary
The core women's lines. One published US size 4 missy specification is a 34 inch bust, 26 inch waist and 37 inch hips, at a height between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 9. Each brand sets its own sample size, so the exact numbers move from company to company.
Plus and curve
Extended size lines fit on their own sample size, graded separately because a plus pattern is not a missy pattern scaled up. Plus fit is steady work at brands that take their extended ranges seriously. Plus size modeling without an agency.
Petite and tall
Lines cut for a specific height band. The height range is the whole brief here, and a model who sits squarely inside it is worth more to the team than one who is almost right.
Parts fit
Intimates, shoes, gloves and hosiery, where one measured feature is the booking and the rest of the body barely enters it. It overlaps with hand and parts modeling.
What a technical designer checks is a list of numbers, not a look: height, bust, waist and hip circumference, arm and leg length, shoulder width, and whatever else the garment type calls for. You stand, move, sit and raise your arms while the team pins and marks the sample, and you tell them where it pulls, gapes or restricts you. That feedback is the part of the job people underrate. A fit model who can say precisely what a garment is doing saves a sample round, and a sample round is money the brand notices.
Fit model salary
How fit model jobs pay
Hourly, and repeatable. The whole point of a fit model is consistency, so a brand that grades a line on your body has a reason to book the same body next season.

Fit model pay and agency rules, with sources
Salary sites aggregate what people report, so read the range, not the average, and expect less outside New York. Maxgirls publishes no rate table of its own, on purpose. You set your own rate range, and model rates per hour, per day and per licence explains why fit work, which grants no image usage at all, is the one booking where an hourly quote is the right unit.
Getting listed
Fit model positions, booked direct, in four steps
Nothing here asks for a card, a signing fee or a portfolio package. If anyone offering fit model casting asks you for money before a booking exists, read trust and safety first.
- Measure properly, then date it Over one thin layer, with a tape that has not stretched: height, bust, waist, high hip, low hip, inseam, shoulder width and shoe. A fit team works to the half inch, and a measurement from last year costs them a session.
- Name your sample size in the headline Write it the way a technical designer searches for it, for example missy size 4 or plus size 18, followed by the three circumference numbers. A buyer reads the headline first, so the words carry it.
- List under commercial and fashion Those are the two categories a production team browses when it is looking for bodies rather than faces. Add parts if one feature is your booking. Your photos should be clean, fitted, front, side and back.
- Keep availability honest Fittings get scheduled around sample deliveries and can move at a day's notice. Available now, this month or booked is one click, needs no review, and is the field a brand with a date filters on first.
